A glaring issue for Indiana on the road has been their defense. New York's lowest-scoring home game in this series was 121 points. Indiana allowed the most free throw attempts all season, and that has carried into this series.  The real question is how are the Knicks going to get stops. Their injuries have left them severely undersized. Indiana was already the league's highest-scoring offense. They held the Pacers to a season-low 91 points in game five, also at home, but that won't happen again. Sharp rotations and denying the paint is a must, especially after allowing 62 points in the paint on Friday. The high-scoring Pacers have not had a "total" beneath 214.5 all season.

The defending champions are home for Game 7, and will be refocused after the Game 6 disaster. That game got out of hand, but it appeared the Nuggets were ready to head to Game 7 as early as the second quarter. The effort and energy from Denver was lacking, as was evident in how they got dominated on the boards. This will all change in Game 7. As a bettor, we cannot look at Game 6 in a vacuum, as the Nuggets won Game 5 by 15 points, and Game 3 by 27 points. The 5-point spread should not concern Denver-backers, as every single game in this series was won by seven or more points. Denver will get back to their winning ways here, they found success double-teaming Edwards on the perimeter, and forcing the other role players to step up. Towns has been quiet this series, as Aaron Gordon is more athletic and just as strong as the big man. Nikola Jokic is well-regarded as the best player in the world, he will prove it in Game 7 with a big showing.

MLB Free Pick - Milwaukee at Houston

In the series finale, right-hander Colin Rea (3-1, 3.45 ERA) will start for Milwaukee. He allowed three runs on six hits and one walk with five strikeouts over six innings in the Brewers' 8-6 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates on Monday, dropping Milwaukee to 6-2 in his starts. It marked the fourth time this season that Rea has worked at least six innings. Rea has faced the Astros once, throwing 5 1/3 innings while allowing four hits and two walks with four strikeouts in a 6-0 home victory on May 23, 2023. Rookie right-hander Spencer Arrighetti (1-4, 7.52 ERA) has the starting assignment for the Astros on Sunday.  He gave up six runs in his last three home starts, and with Houston’s bullpen struggling this season, they will have a hard time slowing down the Brewers in this game.

Today's pitching matchup will feature Mets left-hander Sean Manaea (2-1, 3.05 ERA) against Miami right-hander Sixto Sanchez (0-1, 5.96). The Mets are 5-3 when Manaea starts this year, and both of his outings this month go down as quality starts. Sanchez, who has never faced the Mets, is still just 25. He showed promise in limited action in 2020, going 3-2 with a 3.46 ERA in seven starts. However, over the next three years, Sanchez -- due to injuries -- made just one appearance, and that came in 2023 in one inning at Double-A Pensacola. This year, the Marlins are just 2-9 in his 11 appearances. His longest outing this season has been 4 2/3 innings, and that came Monday in a 6-5 loss to the Detroit Tigers. He did not figure into the decision.

The Southsiders slash .200 BA/.261 OBP/.297 SLG/.558 OPS vs. left-handed pitchers. They're hitting .207/.272/.312/.584 on the road this season and .218/.276/.326/.602 in day games, as well. I don't envision them having much success against the Yanks' starter, who has been a reliable arm for the home team in 2024 after an injury-riddled 2023. The former Chicago pitcher should also have plenty of run support, as New York can jump out to an early lead against Flexen, who rarely lasts past the fifth inning. Behind him, the Southsiders' bullpen is easy prey (1.40 WHIP and 22 HR allowed) for the Bronx Bombers' lineup (4.8 runs/game in day games).

The Royals are in hot pursuit of the Cleveland Guardians atop the AL Central Division while the A's appear to be fading back to the pack. This pitching matchup should favor the Royals as well. KC is hitting a respectable .254 vs. lefties this season including 27 extra-base hits. KC starter Singer has found his strikeout form again this season and that should bode well against an Oakland team in the top three in strikeouts per game in MLB. Singer had a rough start in Seattle but before that, he allowed just a single run in three straight starts. Singer will keep runners off the bases and the Royals will do enough to pick up the win against Sears.
